Pinot Noir

Wild Irishman Three Colleens Pinot Noir 2016

The fruit for the Wild Irishman “Three Colleens” label comes from the highest vineyard in the Gibbston valley at about 480 meters. This tiny block was planted by Brian and Maureen Dennis when they built Mt Rosa Lodge on the site in 2002 and since 2008 has provided the fruit for the single vineyard Wild Irishman Three Colleens Pinot Noir. The wisdom a few years ago was that grapes would not ripen at this altitude but they have thrived in the bright, clear atmosphere amid sub alpine grasses and flowers, terroir which is the life and soul of the wines.

Wild Irishman Three Colleens 2016 Pinot Noir is the ninth vintage from this site. The wine undergoes a natural (indigenous yeast) fermentation and is crafted as always with minimal intervention in the winery to avoid over extraction. Bright, vibrant fruit and elegant structure. No fining or filtration.
