Fruit for the 2017 Wild Irishman Macushla Pinot Noir is predominantly from the Sims “45 South” vineyard directly across the road from Kinross Cottages with a small portion (about 20%) coming from Kinross vines.
Gibbston like the rest of Central Otago had a good spring with warm wet weather leading into a December which produced average temperatures. But these were accompanied by strong winds which affected flowering and resulted ultimately in a lighter crop. February and March were cool but the small bunches and berries ripened well and in the end harvest dates were normal to early for the district.
