The 2018 Macushla is a selection of six barrels from our first full vintage from the Kinross vineyard in Gibbston, Central Otago. The 15 year old vines grow in well drained soils consisting of wind blown glacial silts and free draining sandy loams. A hot dry summer produced grapes of balanced ripeness and a gentle and unobtrusive winemaking approach delivered wine which reflects both site and season.
The vineyard is currently being converted to full organic management. Wild Irishman Wines is delighted to be working with them to explore the exciting potential of this site and to honour the pioneering spirit of Scottish settler Thomas Kinross who farmed the land 150 years ago.

100% destemmed, natural ferment (no yeast added).
Aged 10 months in French barriques, 33% new.
